How Much Should You Be Spending on decade .net developers still fear silverlighted?

I’m not a silverlight developer, so I don’t know much about them. However, I do know that I have never experienced a decade of software development without hearing someone say, “Oh, Silverlight, what a great tool!” (or a few variations of that) and I’m pretty sure that I’ve said that to at least one person who has never used silverlight or its tools.

In the end, even after all of this time, I’m still not exactly sure what Silverlight is. I do know that they have a great tool that allows us to easily build video and document websites, but I dont know what it is.

There are a couple of things that have probably been around for a while, but have never made it to the big leagues, and that is the fact that Silverlight has gone public. In fact, Microsoft went public in 2005, and Adobe was the first major player to have Silverlight.
